Getting your gaming system online

Game systems are automatically detected by Cisco Clean Access and then placed in to the appropriate role. For more information please see this page

Troubleshooting Guide

All Consoles

Problem:When I plug in my game console's network cable, All of my devices lose network connectivity

Solution:You may be triggering port security. This means that you've plugged too many devices into your network port. This number varies and could be as low as one device allowed, to unlimited devices. If your network port shuts down, unplug all devices from the network. Wait 2 minutes. Plug in only one device. If the problem goes away, you will need to contact the ZipSupport center and make a request to increase the maximum number of devices allowed on your port. These issues are handled on a case to case basis and all requests may not be granted.

Playstation 3

Problem:Not all of my PS3 games will connect online.

Solution:You will need to contact the ZipSupport center to conduct a network port scan. Currently most games should work, however, Call of Duty 4 currently is a known exception.

XBOX LIVE

Problem:Receiving the error message:

Solution:XBOX / XBOX 360 MTU failed

  1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings.
  2. Select Edit Settings.
  3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Alternate MAC Address.
  5. Delete the Alternate MAC. Clean Access is now capable of detecting your console automatically
  6. Do a Hard reset of the XBOX (Power the unit off, then power it on)
    1. If the xbox still fails at MTU, repeat the above steps; be sure the alternate MAC is not set.

Wii

The Wii's wireless card is not compatible with our network security. However, it will let you browse the internet, it will not let you play games online.

If a user desires to play games online, they will have to purchase and Ethernet adapter specifically made for the Wii.
