These are the instructions on how to set up the Wi-Fi on Windows 8

You may use Windows 10 setup if these steps do not work


Open the start screen and type in "Set up a ". On the right you should see a search result for Set up a Connection or a network.

2. Manually connect to a wireless network and then click next

3. Enter the unformation as follows.
  1. If you're on the main part of campus
    1. Network Name: rootown
    2. Security Type: wpa2 enterprise
    3. Encryption Type: AES
  1. If you're in the dorms:
    1. Network Name: UARH
    2. Security Type: wpa2 enterprise
    3. Encryption Type: AES

Click next and choose Change profile settings.

4. Click on the Security tab and then click on Settings about halfway down the screen.

Check Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate

  1. Under the second check box, enter "" (without the quotation marks).

After that, click OK until you are closed out of all the open windows.

6. Click Ok twice. Then click the Advanced settings button at the bottom

7. Check the box that says Specify authentication mode and select User authentication from the drop-down menu. Click Save credentials.

8. Enter your UANet ID and password.

9. Click on the Wifi icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. From there, click on Rootown if you're on the main part of campus or UARH if you're in the dorms. Click the Connect automatically

10. If it asks you to Continue Connecting, go ahead and click connect. This step may not happen for everybody, and if it doesn't come up then don't worry about it.

Enter in your information as follows:

  1. uanet\UANet ID (if your ID is abc123 you would enter uanet\abc123)
  2. your password

Then click OK
