Beginning in Fall Semester, 2009, Rootown will become the default network for all University of Akron students, staff, and faculty.

About RooTown

RooTown is The University of Akron's WPA Enterprise wireless network for anyone with an active UAnetID.

Rootown Settings

For wireless clients not specifically enumerated, it is important to know the specifics of rootown's security:

SSID: rootown

Security type: WPA2 - Enterprise

Encryption type: AES

Authentication type: Protected EAP (PEAP)

Authentication method: PEAP-MSCHAPv2

Certificate: Entrust.net Certification Authority (2048)

Credentials: UANet ID and password

NOTE: In some cases WPA2-Enterprise and/or AES may not be an option. Selecting WPA or WPA2 for Security Type and TKIP for Encryption type should work as long as the device is able to perform PEAP Authentication.
