About the H drive

When you log onto uanet with the computer in your office, it will map your departmental "H" drive. The "H" drive will show up along with the other drives available on your computer within your "My Computer icon." The "H" drive available to you will be specific for your department and may contain a folder just for your documents. If you have your own folder on the "H" drive, you are the only person able to use the folder. The "H" drive is an excellent place to backup important documents.

Installing the H drive (Windows)

  1. You must have had access to the H: drive previously. This procedure will only map it to the computer, not grant access. To obtain access to the H: drive a support ticket must be opened at the ZipSupport office.
  2. Make sure computer is on the campus network (Hardwire or wireless) or is VPNed into the network. (See VPN setup)
  3. Click on Start -> Run
  4. Type in \\uanet.edu\NETLOGON
  5. It may ask you to log in, use your UANet ID and password.
  6. Find your department’s folder and open it.
  7. Run the script in the folder.
  8. The H: drive should be now mapped to the computer.

Installing the H drive (Apple)

  1. You must have had access to the H: drive previously. This procedure will only map it to the computer, not grant access. To obtain access to the H: drive a support ticket must be opened at the ZipSupport office.
  2. Make sure computer is on the campus network (Hardwire or wireless) or is VPNed into the network. (See VPN setup) Select "GO" in the finder menu bar at the top center of the screen
  3. Select "Connect to Server"
  4. Enter the name of your server as smb://{your department's server name}
  5. Select "Connect"
  6. Enter the domain as UANET, your UAnet ID and password.
  7. Select "OK"
  8. The share names will appear in a list. Select the name of your share.
  9. The share will appear on the desktop.
