Introduction
- Students / Faculty and Staff should connect to rootown from the steps listed. If you are a guest of the university, you should connect with uaguest
Connecting your iOS device to rootown
Note: You must have iOS 2.0 or later to connect to the network
1. | Tap Settings. | |
2. | Select Wi-Fi. | |
3. | Make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on and then select rootown or Roo-Secure for campus and UARH for the dorms. | |
4. | It will prompt you to enter your UAnet ID and password. After doing so tap Join to connect to rootown. | |
5. | Accept the certificate. | |
6. | If you have successfully connected there should be a checkmark next to rootown and you should see the wireless signal icon in the top left corner | |
7. | To verify that you are connected you can select rootown on the network list and you should see an IP address that starts with 10.240.x.x on the next screen. |
NOTE: If you have joined the "uaguest" network before this setup and it keeps connecting to it, find the network under Settings > Wi-Fi, click on the arrow next to the network, and select "Forget This Network." This will drop the profile for "uaguest" and use your new rootown one.
Connecting the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad to your email

For Faculty
NOTE: You must have the iPhone 2.0 software to connect to the exchange server
- Tap Settings
- Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
- Tap Add Account
- Tap Microsoft Exchange
- Enter your email address
- Enter your username in the following format:
- Domain: uanet
- Username: your uanet id
- Password: your password
- Tap Next
- If prompted for a Server, enter exchange.uanet.edu
- Click Next
- Click Save
