DTCF is an application named after the four departments that use the application.

Financial Aid

Current Version

DTCF 2.1 - Is the current version. This version is compatible with PeopleSoft V9.

System Requirements:

  • Windows 7, 8.
  • Office 2007+
  • Oracle Client (This can be requested via SCCM by the SCCM deployment team)
    • For Windows 8, additional steps may be required for installation. You may need to contact the Matt Bungard for additional assistance.

The DTCF 2.1 Installation package is available for installation.

  • It is preferred to have the Oracle Client installed to your computer before installing the DTCF application.
  • The installer for DTCF can be found \\fp3\DTCF\5-Data & Document Storage\Installation\DTCF2_install.exe
    • If you can't access this installer, you may not have the appropriate permissions necessary. Please contact ZipSupport to help with those issues.

  • You must be on campus and connected to the wired network (wireless may not work properly) for the DTCF application to operate properly.
  • Oracle Client does not need to be installed to run the DTCF installer. However in order to use the program properly the Oracle Client package must be installed.
  • There should be two Oracle DSN's listed under your system's ODBC settings
    • FSPROD - Financial Production
    • HEPROD - SAHR Production
  • The DTCF application will routinely reference itself as simply DTCF2, DTCF2.1 is mostly for internal representation.
  • Usage of DTCF2.1 should be no different than that of the original DTCF2. Any differences should be reported to DTCF Support for review.

Known Issues

Currently, there is an issue with Office 2007 and DTCF. Some forms within the application will not load properly because Office 2007 will not allow the documents to load inline within the application. This issue also applies to versions after 2007.

Installation Issues

Oracle Client

The 11g Oracle client should be installed to the computer

In some cases, the tnsnames.ora file is not deployed. The file can be copied from the K: drive to the %ORACLE_HOME%\admin\network folder

You can test your Oracle installation by running "tnsping HEPROD" from the command line. If you see see "OK" after the command is complete, your configuration is running properly.

DTCF Fails to load the Login Screen

If the DTCF throws an error and displays a blank login screen, you will need to copy the "DTCF2.exe" from the I: drive (\\fp3\DTCF\5-Data & Document Storage\Installation) to the local installation folder.

Additionally, this error may be reported as "The type initializer for 'DTCF2.DB' threw an exception...".

You can overwrite the existing dtcf2.exe.

Missing OCX/DLL Files

Upon loading the DTCF, if you receive an error regarding missing components.

You will neeed to launch a command prompt (with administrator access) and execute the following commands. If these files are missing, they can be found either in the "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2" directory or in "\\fp3\DTCF\5-Data & Document Storage\Installation".

Note: UAC permissions may require that these network files be copied locally to the user profile before being copied to the C:\windows\syswow64 folder

  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2\Tabctl32.ocx"
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2\MSCOMCT2.OCX"
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2\MSCOMCT.OCX"
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2\MSCOMCTL.OCX"
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2\Comdlg32.ocx"
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64>regsvr32.exe "C:\program files (x86)\dtcf2\MSSTDFMT.DLL"

If the above error is seen, a repair of Microsoft Office should address this issue.

If the issue persists, you may need to perform a registry update manually.

Warning: These steps should only be performed by someone who is familiar with updating the Windows Registry. Serious problems may result if used incorrectly.

  • Search for "Office.Interop.Excel"
  • If you see a subfolder nearby that reads "1.8" and it has no subkeys (like the "1.7" folder), delete the "1.8" Folder.
    • If the 1.8 folder has subkeys or you don't see a 1.7 folder, you should not delete these keys. This step may not apply to your situation.
