Starting with Android 4.0, the ability to connect to an IPSEC VPN has been built in to the OS. This guide was made off of a mostly stock version of Android 4.2.2 on a Nexus4. Not every phone's setup will be the same as this guide, however most phones will be similar enough to this setup that you should be able to work it out.
| Open System Preferences and click on More... choice under "Wireless & Networks"
| Click on VPN choice | |
| If you do not have Lock Screen Security set up already, it will ask you to set it up now. The typical choices are a PIN or an unlock pattern
| Click the + at the top of your screen and fill out the menus as shown. Enter "zippy" as the IPSec pre-shared key. Click Save when you are done.
| Click on Akron (or whatever you named your VPN) and enter your ID and password. Choose the option to save your login information if you want.
| Once your VPN is connected, you will get a key icon in your notification bar. If you pull down the bar you will get a "VPN activates" choice. If you wish to disconnect from the VPN, click this. |
