Known Issues

Sony Vaio Laptops

Sony installs a very stripped down version of the Intel Proset Utility. Because of this, it is crippled in that you cannot access the authenication/profile settings of the Proset Utility. To overcome this please follow the following steps.

  1. Remove all existing Sony and Intel wireless software from the computer
  2. Restart Computer
  3. Install newest version of the Intel ProSet driver/utility from their site see:HOWTO:Wireless Setup
  4. Restart Computer
  5. Verify that the wireless card has started without any issues or resource conflicts via Device Manager
  6. Configure according to HOWTO:Wireless Setup

Not able to connect to the Internet, but completes authenication.

Perform the following steps.

  1. Start>Run>"cmd"
    1. C:>ipconfig
    2. If the IP begins with 169.0.0.1 or is a non Univserity subnet (not 130.101.xxx.xxx) please see TCP/IP settings.
