Windows Security

Windows 10 has a built in antivirus tool called Windows Security or Windows Defender. You do not need to download or install anything to use these tools. They provide virus threat detection and removal.

How to Use

  1. First, you must open up Windows Security. There are a couple of different ways to get to Windows Security:
    • You can access Windows Security by searching "Windows Security" in the search bar of Windows 10.

    • Or you can access Windows Security through Windows Settings.
      1. Go to Windows Settings
      2. Click "Update & Security"
      3. On the left sidebar click "Windows Security"
      4. This will give you the option to launch Windows Security
  2. Once you're in Windows Security, on the left hand sidebar, click Virus & threat protection

  4. Once you've clicked that you will see some options. Click Quick scan

  6. This will scan the files on your computer and see if it can detect any threats.
  7. Once the scan is finished, it will give you a summary and tell you how many threats were detected. All threats found will be quarantined
  8. If necessary, it will guide you on removing threats that were detected and quarantined.
  9. Finally, restart your computer.
