How to check what version of Mac OS X you have

  1. Click on the Apple logo in the top left of your screen
  2. Click on About This Mac
  3. The OS version is listed right below the Apple logo

Lion/Mountian Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite/El Capitan (10.7 - 10.11)

Click the WiFi icon in the top right corner of the screen and choose Open Network Preferences

Click the + icon on the bottom left.

Choose the interface of VPN

The VPN type is Cisco IPSec

Set the Service Name to UA

Click OK

Enter the server address of vpn.uakron.edu

User your UANet ID as your account name

Enter your UANet password

Click Authentication Settings

User zippy as the shared secret

User Zipnet as the group name

Click OK

Leopard/Snow Leopard(10.5 - 10.6)

  1. Click the WiFi icon in the top right corner of the screen and choose Open Network Preferences
  2. Click Add (+) at the bottom of the network connection services list on the left
  3. For Interface Select VPN
  4. VPN Type: Cisco IPSec
  5. Service Name: UA Akron VPN
  6. Select Create
  7. Server Address: vpn.uakron.edu
  8. Account name: UAnet ID
  9. Password: Your UAnet password
  10. Open Authentication Settings
  11. Groupname: Zipnet
  12. Shared Secret: zippy
