Benefits of Duo Security
With increasing phishing and identity theft attempts, additional security is necessary. Duo Security adds another layer of protection in front of your personal information. Duo Security requires you to verify your identity while logging into your University of Akron account, and in doing so can prevent unwanted access to your account. Once you are enrolled, you will have the ability to deny access to your account in the event that someone is trying to login as you.

What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your online accounts. Verifying your identity using a second factor (like your phone or other mobile device) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.
What are my authentication options with Duo?
- Duo Push (recommended): Pushes a login request to your smartphone or tablet via the Duo Mobile App.
- Enter a Passcode: Log in using a passcode, either generated with Duo Mobile, sent via text, Duo Hardware Token, or provided by an administrator.
- Other Devices with some limitations:
- Security Keys
- Touch ID
What should I do if I get an authentication message and I am not trying to log in?

What if I lose my mobile phone or it is stolen?
Contact the Help Desk at (330) 972-6888 immediately. The device will be disabled for authentication. A new device will need to be enrolled.
