Configuring Rootown on XP
This procedure requires Service Pack 2 to be installed (in most cases this is already taken care of). If are are unsure, click the Start Menu, go to Run, type winver.exe and click OK. The second line displays which service pack is installed.

Navigate to Start Menu, Control Panel, and then Network Connections. Right click your Wireless card and select Properties. |

| 2. | Click the Wireless tab and click the Add button if it is the first time your adding the network. | |
| 3. | The settings are as follows. Use the image to right for a visual of what it appears as.

| 4. | Click the Properties button.

| 5. | Click OK until you get back to the starting point. You will be prompted by a ballon in the bottom right corner near the clock. Use the image as an example. | |
| 6. | Click the balloon. Enter JUST your UAnetID and your password. Leave Domain blank. | |
| 7. | You should be connect to the network now. In the future. The balloon may appear periodically to re-authenticate you. Also, when your password changes, this balloon should appear again looking for your new password. |
If you DO NOT see the Wireless Network tab.
1. Go to the Start Menu
2. Go to Run
3. Type services.msc
4. Scroll to the bottom and find Wireless Zero Configuration
5. Right Click it and click Start
6. Try clicking Advanced Settings again under the wireless settings. It should be there.
However, the most likely cause of this incident is that a third party utility is controlling your wireless settings. You may want to either disable that utility or attempt to use it to configure your wireless settings. We have a few utility setups on the Wireless_Setup page.
