About
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ruckus is a free ad-supported online music service available to students at all American colleges.
On January 22, 2007, Ruckus announced that access to their music library, which was previously available only at schools with contractual agreements, can be accessed by any college student with a valid college (.edu) email account.
As of late January 2008, Ruckus has developed exclusive partnerships with 201 schools with users from over 1000 schools nationwide. Also at this time, the website stated that 1 million additional members will be required to keep the site open and then spread this message through various online communication portals. This development was apparently an effort by Ruckus to gain the help of members before more serious efforts would need to be set in place.

Troubleshooting
How do I put songs on my MP3 player?
To put songs on your MP3 player, you must:
- Have a valid Ruckus music and Ruckus-to-go subscriptions. See this page to add Ruckus to Go to your account.
- Have a Playsforsure Subscription compatible MP3 player .(see below)
- Have updated firmware for your particular player. Some players may need you to visit the manufacturer’s web site to download the most current (Playsforsure compatible) firmware for your computer.
NOTE: Not all players are compatible for this feature. When purchasing a player, look for the "Playsforsure" logo that is compliant with both audio downloads and subscription The PlaysForSure logo is not enough. The player needs to be marked for Subscription. Microsoft provides a list of Playsforsure Subscription Enabled Players , however just because your players isn't listed doesn't mean it's not PlaysForSure Subscription compatible. Look for the Subscription-checked logo below on the box or on the manufacture's information page on your player.
Ensure the PlaysForSure logo is checked for Subscription.
How do I put songs on my Apple Ipod?
Many mp3 players will work with Ruckus to Go, but unfortunately not iPods or iPhones.
Apple has no plans on making the iPod work with the PlaysForSure subscription standard used by online subscription services like Ruckus to Go. iPods do not work with the WMDRM PlaysForSure subscription standard so it cannot be possible.
How do I renew my licenses?
To renew a license, you'll need to be be logged into the Ruckus Player. Playing the track will automatically renew the license unless you have cleared your DRM folder. Otherwise you can renew licenses for multiple tracks. Highlight (right click..select all) the desired tracks, right-click on them, and click Renew License. The key icon means that it is retrieving the license for you.
