The future of UA provided Dial-in service

Note: Unless you are a current user of The University of Akron’s dial-up service (Only ZipSupport technicians can use this link), Dial-in service is no longer available.

The University of Akron Does Not support this service, you must call visn-net for support.

The University of Akron has transferring support for the dial-up service to Vision Net as of March 1, 2008. If you are a current user of The University of Akron’s dial-up service (Only ZipSupport technicians can use this link), the University has paid to continue the service for you through the end of June 2008. At that time, you have the option of signing up with Vision Net to continue using their service. You will need to contact Vision Net to determine the cost of the service. Currently it is estimated that the service is $10 to $12 a month. You can make the switch to Vision Net anytime between now and June 30.

Accessing your UA email with visn.net

In order to access the exchange server from visn.net you MUST be connected to the vpn

Vision Net can be reached at support@visn.net, or by calling 800-645-9351, or 216-619-8638, extension 3 for tech support.

If you have questions, contact the University’s Support Desk at 330-972-6888 or the University’s Network Services at 330-972-7958.

Your dialup username will always be appended with “@visn.net”. For instance, if you choose “billgates” for your username, your complete username is billgates@visn.net Your password is case sensitive, so be sure to enter it exactly as it was initially setup.
